I recently did a coaching call with the owner of a successful café. The café has a great product, a strong local brand, and loyal customers. However, the landlord is likely to raise the rent next year, and the owner is weighing his options.

His first instinct? Move. He may relocate to a higher-traffic area if he must pay higher rent, but that comes with new risks and the need to start over in many ways.

We kept talking.

It turns out the real issue wasn't the rent. It was the grill.

His kitchen was often at full capacity. When that happened, he had to shut off Grubhub and other delivery platforms to keep up with in-store orders.

Missed revenue. Missed opportunity. He was essentially limited to a certain income ceiling.

I said, "You don't have a rent problem—you have a 3X opportunity."

That one shift changed everything.

By upgrading to a bigger grill, he could serve more customers, reduce wait times, and drive revenue through the roof. Suddenly, the rent hike wasn't a problem. It was fuel for growth.

That's what I call finding your 3X multiplier—the one action that turns a stuck situation into exponential results.

Here's how to find yours:

1. Look for the real constraint, not the surface-level problem. It's usually hiding in plain sight, like the grill. Ask: What's capping your growth or results right now?

2. Turn strengths into scale. The café owner had a killer brand. He just wasn't using it to its full potential. Ask: What can I do to get 3X the return from something I already do well?

3. Think ripple effect. A bigger grill = more orders = faster service = happier customers = higher revenue. Ask: What's one move that triggers multiple positive outcomes?

Yes, his rent might go up. He still may decide to move or even open a second location.

But now, that decision will be made from a position of strength.

Because of the 3X opportunity we found, any future rent is covered by growth, not eaten out of profit.

He came in thinking about leaving. He walked out ready to multiply.

That's the power of finding your 3X multiplier.
