The Daily What If: A moment of overwhelm

It’s easy to see when someone else is overwhelmed. You notice the pressure they’re under and how much they’re trying to carry at once.

When that happens, most of us instinctively help by narrowing the moment. We encourage a pause. We remind them they don’t have to solve everything right now. We help them focus on what matters first or take one thing off their plate.

What’s harder is recognizing your own overwhelm. Especially when you’re used to handling things on your own. The same kind of support you offer others often applies to you, too.

What if today you helped someone—or yourself—through a moment of overwhelm?
